Chewing and swallowing are essential steps in the digestive process. For those in need of care, the absorption of nutrients is crucial for recovery. However, individuals who struggle with chewing or swallowing may not be able to absorb enough vitamins and proteins from their food. That's why Compass Group Belgium has developed a special technique within the Medirest segment for this group of patients or residents in care homes: the LiMiMotion© program.

Until recently, this technique was only applied to hot and cold dishes for lunch and to sandwich spreads. But now, with our MiMo bread, we can extend this technique to breakfast or an evening meal. A slice of MiMo bread looks just like a regular slice of bread, but it melts in the mouth. It's also delicious with spreadable toppings like jam, soft cheese, pâté, herb cheese, or cookie butter.

Marion Kühling, Head of Operations Medirest, says: “This is real bread enriched with high-quality proteins. After mixing, it is reshaped so that people with chewing and swallowing difficulties can enjoy a slice of bread just like everyone else.”

With this innovation, we aim to:

  • Increase protein intake
  • Enhance the independence of the resident/patient
  • Improve the taste and experience of real bread
  • Boost the satisfaction of the resident/patient
