More than ever now, we need to be kind to one another. The health crisis that we have been experiencing since the beginning of 2020 shows how much solidarity and tolerance, we humans must show towards each other. The World Kindnessday also reminds us of this.
Kindness is free!
A word or a gesture, kindness is always so appreciated. And often, without being asked, we are offered this kindness in return. International Day of Kindness is an opportunity to show your loved ones how much you care about them. Think of your neighbours and colleagues and pay them a small compliment. This is completely free to do.
Some ideas for doing good deeds
For World Kindnessday, at Compass Group we are focusing on food. Because our best way to make people smile is by doing what we do best, cooking. In fact, our chefs talk about their exciting job in this article.
We are talking about offering food, in the literal sense of the word, in other words, food donations. As far as possible, and in agreement with the managers of our operations, we at Compass Group donate unsold food and dishes to charities. This enables us to avoid wasting food. You can also do a good deed at home.
Take an inventory or sort through your fridge and food stocks. Fill a crate with products that you do not consume (but whose date has not expired, of course!) and offer this crate to an association for the most deprived. In Belgium, there is a donation management platform: you can find more information on www.bourseauxdons.be.
Imagine if everyone made a small effort, even if only a few times a month. In your impulse of generosity, you can also sort through your cupboards: giving away clothes and objects you no longer need will make people happy and, what's more, it's a nice gesture for the planet!
